Hello! I’m Lauren Carter, a Boston-based wordsmith with a passion for storytelling and more than 15 years of experience creating polished, powerful written communication.
I believe that stories are the most powerful tools we have to connect with each other and reveal truth, and I’ve spent my career telling the stories of individuals, artists and brands.
I consider myself part technician and part artist, blending logic and skill with imagination and style, balancing a focus on small details with a broader emphasis on the big picture.
I know how to fix pesky grammar errors and turn clunky, convoluted sentences into engaging prose.
I also know how to harness the power of words to make people feel deeply and take action.
Clarity, accuracy, impact.
That’s what I aim for in everything I produce.
I don’t believe in settling for mediocrity, and I don’t subscribe to the idea that ‘good enough’ is good enough.
I’m continually seeking to improve myself, and I bring that same spirit of excellence to my work.
As a result, I am someone who can:
- Write well
- Rewrite and edit better
- Simplify complex ideas and synthesize large amounts of information into a clear, cohesive whole
- Think creatively and strategically
- Solve problems
- Get results
It’s what I’ve been doing for the past 15-plus years as a writer and editor for newspapers, national magazines, digital publications, individuals, artists, businesses and nonprofit organizations in need of killer content.
My work has included:
- Feature stories
- Music reviews
- Opinion pieces
- Personal essays
- Hard news
- Press releases
- Talking points
- Artist bios
- Blog posts
- Website content
- Print and digital marketing copy
- Social media posts (Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, etc.)
I’m also the proud editor of several books, including “Blackout: My 40 Years in the Music Business” by music industry veteran Paul Porter.
Simply put, I strive to create communication that gets attention and gets results.
Thank you for visiting!
