Review: 2 Chainz proves ignorance is bliss at Boston show
You could sum up the sold-out 2 Chainz show on Tuesday like this: Ignorance is bliss.
It doesn’t matter that the Atlanta rapper is peaking at 36 in a game centered around fresh-faced 20-somethings and teens. It doesn’t matter that he talks almost exclusively about strippers, sex and money. It doesn’t matter that he drops lines like “The crazy thing about it, everything been crazy” and “I do this all night, man I should wear pajamas.”
Nothing matters inside the 2 Chainz alternate universe matrix, where a rapper who’s already been rapping for 15 years under the moniker Tity Boi is suddenly a star who seems to have a verse on every rap song in existence. 2 Chainz apparently makes his own rules in the rap game, and by all accounts, he’s winning.
Fans treated Tuesday’s show like a welcome home party for a hometown hero, not a tour stop by an Atlanta native. People were hanging off the House of Blues rafters. Drunk girls got hauled out of the venue by security. Grown men screamed out lyrics and danced like no one was watching.
