Throwback Thursdays: Puff Daddy & Biggie Winning

If you’re a hip-hop fan, this 1997 masterpiece needs no introduction. It’s all epic rap domination for like five minutes — then-Puff Daddy and Biggie trading crazy verses, Busta Rhymes screaming on the hook and a monster beat that samples Bill Conti’s “Going the Distance” from “Rocky.”

This was my favorite song for a significant period of time and sort of defined my late teen years, when I could frequently be found riding around Wilmington screaming out lyrics to DMX, Fleetwood Mac and this. There’s a very good chance that if you got in my car between 1997 and 1999 you would hear this track, and nothing else.
